    Description

    Fasigyn® manufacturer is Pfizer.

    Fasigyn® tablets contain active ingredient is Tinidazole, a 5-nitroimidazole anti-parasitic agent, which belongs to a drug class Amebicides, Antimalarials and gynecological Antiinfectives.

    Indications:

    - genitourinary tract infections in both women and men caused by trichomonas vaginalis, including vaginitis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, amebiasis, endometritis or abscess in the ovaries/fallopian tubes;

    - prevention of anaerobic infections following gynecological or abdominal surgery;

    - bacterial infections in the abdomen (peritonitis); abscess in the pelvic cavity;

    - bacterial infection of the blood (septicaemia);

    - bacterial skin and soft tissue infections;

    - bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, such as pneumonia or lung abscesses;

    - painful inflammation and ulcers of the gums (ulcerative gingivitis);

    - parasitic gut infection caused by the protozoa Giardia lamblia (giardiasis);

    - amoebic infection of the liver or intestine;

    - part of a treatment to fight Helicobacter pylori (infection associated with stomach and duodenal ulcers).

    MOA (mechanism of action):

    Tinidazole is used to treat infections caused by bacteria and other microorganisms called protozoa. Tinidazole enters bacterial and protozoal cells and interferes with their DNA. It destroys the DNA and does not allow the bacteria and protozoa to form new genetic material. This ultimately results in death of microorganisms, which gets rid of the infection.
